Comment #3 on issue 1162 by address@hidden: website bibliography
http://code.google.com/p/lilypond/issues/detail?id=1162

It is rather easy to simplify the process: I have written a bibliography style (.bst) that writes directly .texi files. By the way what is the difference between .itexi and .texi? I found none for bibliography.

However I discovered an issue that is already present in today's essay: if you look at
http://www.lilypond.org/doc/v2.13/Documentation/essay/long-literature-list
you will see that all non ascii char that have been entered in the .bib file with special latex commands like \"u are not well printed. Here are some example:
- all volume numbers show ";" before the number
- lependorf89
- sadie90:_music_print_publis
- tappolet47:_la_notat_music
- bouzaiene98:_une
- gall97:_creat
- gieseking01:_code_gener_noten
- montel97
- mueller90:_inter_bearb_musik
- banter
- tyboni94:_noter_handb_i_tradit_noter

This could be left as is and corrected later or could be handled in the issue. It is due to the fact that bibtex does not handle utf8 characters so that we must use ASCII only files. I searched on the web and found one possible solution: use biber
as a replacement of bibtex: http://biblatex-biber.sourceforge.net/
This perl program handles utf8 files so that there is no need to have special latex commands. However, I did not find any ubuntu package for this and it must be used from source .tar.gz. Another possiblity would be to continue using bibtex and write a converter to replace latex commands by utf8 codes (it may be possible to copy one function of biber).

Also seen the following issue in current bibliography of the essay: presence of HTML tags in the output: <DT> dannenberg93</DT> apparently not removed properly by html-to-texi, this should be fine with bib2texi bst file:
- colorado-web
- field-richards93
- sola87-beams
