well d'oh - the entire output pipeline changed between 2.4 and 2.6 ,
with direct
postscript output iso. TeX.
For a constructive report, decompress the PDF files, and point out
where we can drop
information from the post-2.6 PDFs.
Note that dvips rounds coordinates at various places, loosing
precision, but also
loosing digits (which take up space).
