From the error message, it looks as if you didn't specify the
name of the test.ly file. I hope you tried to run the command
lilypond test.ly
in the directory where you had saved the file.

Also, I recommend to install the latest stable version 2.2.x instead.

Hi

I am trying to install Lilypond on a machine running Linux (Mandrake 9.1) I am getting the following error message

"lilypond: error: no file specified on command line
Traceback (most recent call last):
    File "/usr/bin/lilypond", line 789, in ?
ly. exit (2)

File "usr/share/lilypond/2.1.0/python/lilylib.py", line 130, in exit
raise _ ('Exiting (%d...') % i
Exiting (2)...

What does this mean, how do I fix it?

Thanks
Rosalind
