Read the first part for the background of this topic.
I took the affected MIDI and put it back into staff notation using
Sibelius, which does a half decent job of it most of the time.
This is what the PDF shows for the Solo Violin voice (and what it
SHOULD look and sound like):

As you can see, quite a difference. What this voice plays varies,
though it's usually gunshots.
But wait! There's more!
I spent a lot of time working on this score this weekend. There are no
new instruments and I didn't tweak the score file any. However, the
solo violin voice is back to normal! There is occasionally a gunshot
during play, but not a distraction. My parital theory is that, as
Sibelius shows, the Solo Violin voice has become a bass and treble clef
(but how?), in which the latter carries some of the lower register but
in gunshot mode. Overall, though, I'm befuddled still.
