An error like that is always a gcc bug. You could avoid it coming up
by using -O2 instead of -O3, try "CFLAGS=-O3 ../configure" for your hurd build.
I would suggest reporting the gcc bug, but I'm sure you are not using the
latest gcc-3.0 version and therefore we should check whether the bug really
still exists in the latest gcc. There are other reasons not to try to use
the latest gcc for now, so just avoid the bug with -O2.
