Ah!  I didn't know that bash, besides command completion,
could do option completion too.

Yeah, I was thinking too much of util-linux stuff instead of GNU stuff.

Seeing also Jim's arguments, and --help and --version not being
options one tends to type daily, I surrender my objections.
