Hi paul,
The process which compress the file invokes it like
gzip -1 path/file_name.txt
What do you mean by the way it is invoked?
When we do recompression we do it like
Gzip path/file_name.txt

From the symptoms it sounds like it could be a problem with the way gzip is
being invoked, not in gzip itself. But it's hard to say without a specific
test case. At any rate, if the bug is present only in gzip 1.2.4, then it
sounds like the bug is fixed in the latest gzip.
