I am pleased to announce that GNU gv (1st release candidate for gv 3.6.5) has been released today. It is available for download in the GNU ftp, ftp://alpha.gnu.org/gnu/gv

Changes in this version:

# ~/.gv now contains the version that has saved that configuration.

and some documentation fixes.

As I did not receive any non-documentation bug reports for release, and the change listed above is only a minor one, I expect this release to be released as GNU gv 3.6.5 without changes.

Some more words about the new functin mentioned above: ~.gv now contains a line "GV.version: gv 3.6.5" (with some more white-spaces). If GV.version in ~/.gv is missing, assume it to be "gv 3.5.2". Now the following old behavior of GNU gv is used: If this version number is older than the refernce version stored in src/versionp.h (Variable "versionCompatibility", currently ""), GV refuses to start. For saving the current version to ~/.gv, the variable "versionResource" from src/versionp.h will be used. This mechanism prevents users from using too old resources.
