Another OS X 10.6 user had the same problem compiling Guile 2.0,
and later discovered that the compiler bug is specific to XCode 4.
Downgrading to XCode 3 worked for him.

Someone else said that XCode 3 uses a derivative of GCC, whereas XCode 4
uses LLVM/Clang.
