OK I could reproduce that and I've fixed that problem
(--with-pkg-config=$(prefix)/lib/pkgconfig).

This is how it is in my distro (Parabola) and I largely followed their
method of doing things such that ncurses and ncursesw could be installed
in parallel.  So, it seems that the GSRC method "works" now, where
"works" means "looks the same as an established distro".  It may need
some more tweaking for this particular system.  Please let me know if
other problems come up.
