[Bug-gsl] GSL 1.12

Hello,

I need to use GSL 1.12 for compatibility with some custom software. 
Unfortunately, when I try to unzip the source file:

tar -zxvf gsl-1.12.tar.gz

I get the error:

gzip: stdin: not in gzip format
tar: Child returned status 1
tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm sorry if this wasn't the right 
place to email.
