A couple of comments specific to AIX about the INSTALL file.

Thanks. I've deleted the stuff about fprnd_t and expanded the other text to

    If you get errors like

ld: 0711-593 SEVERE ERROR: Symbol C_BSTAT (entry 635) in object
siman_tsp.o:
The symbol refers to a csect with symbol number 0, which was not
found. The new symbol cannot be associated with a csect and
              is being ignored.

this is due to problems with some versions of the IBM assembler. Try
compiling with CFLAGS="-g0" as a workaround. For details and other
    solutions see https://www-304.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=isg1IZ98134
and
    http://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=46072

That seems fine. It will provide the necessary pointers.

Lucily AIX updates are free, even if one has no maintence contract, so if IBM do fix this, it will be quite easy for people to get the updates. (That said, most users of AIX systems will probably have them on contracts - mine just happens to be a rather obscure "home" computer).
