Follow-up Comment #1:
Could you give more details? grub_efi_get_filename() will always prepend '/';
so for files in root directory we end up with "/file" and set the very first
"/" to '\0'. Which effectively is what your patch does.
If not, we probably have problem with grub_efi_get_filename() and need to fix
it. Full device path to loaded image would be interesting.
