Details:

echo -n and echo -e work. echo string or hello both fail with no further
response until the timeout occurs.

Does successfully load the menu and can boot Linux/MacOS/Legacy

Also not working is ls (however tab completion on paths does work to show
available choices).

Tested on svn 2266 but problem also present on earlier builds.

built with

./configure --with-platform=efi --target=x86_64

also confirmed the same problem on i386

./configure --with-platform=efi --target=i386
