Error 17 when booting |

Hi,
This is not a bug as such, but I need help with GRUB.
I've read the documentation through and through and I can't seem to make any sense of my issue: I was hoping you might provide help or redirect me to someone who can.
Here is my problem: GRUB returns an error 17 when I boot my PC. I had a Linux/Ubuntu partition and a Windows partition, and to make a long story short, the Linux partition was erase from within Windows and a Windows based D:\ partition was set up instead.
Next time I tried to boot my PC, I got this error 17 message.
What can I do to have the PC boot without error ?
Thanks for your quick feedback,
Andre.
