Details:

Hi all,

I just try the latest svn sources, with debian patches included (I have build
the package from the debian directory of the experimental deb).

Here's my setup :

a soekris net4801 : that's means an emulated console, and a serial line at
57600 bauds.

my grub.cfg :

#
# DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE
#
# It is automatically generated by /usr/sbin/update-grub using templates
# from /etc/grub.d and settings from /etc/default/grub
#

### BEGIN /etc/grub.d/00_header ###
insmod serial
set default=0
set timeout=5
serial --unit=0 --speed=57600 --word=o --parity=no --stop=1
terminal serial
terminal ####### <==== for testing purpose
read ####### <==== for testing purpose
### END /etc/grub.d/00_header ###

### BEGIN /etc/grub.d/05_debian_theme ###
set menu_color_normal=cyan/blue
set menu_color_highlight=white/blue
### END /etc/grub.d/05_debian_theme ###

### BEGIN /etc/grub.d/10_hurd ###
### END /etc/grub.d/10_hurd ###

### BEGIN /etc/grub.d/10_linux ###
menuentry "Debian GNU/Linux, linux 2.6.26-1-486" {
        set root=(hd0,1)
        linux /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.26-1-486 root=/dev/hda1 ro novga nofb
console=ttyS0,57600n8,nomonitor acpi=off
        initrd  /boot/initrd.img-2.6.26-1-486
}
menuentry "Debian GNU/Linux, linux 2.6.26-1-486 (single-user mode)" {
        set root=(hd0,1)
        linux /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.26-1-486 root=/dev/hda1 ro single novga
nofb console=ttyS0,57600n8,nomonitor acpi=off
        initrd  /boot/initrd.img-2.6.26-1-486
}
### END /etc/grub.d/10_linux ###

### BEGIN /etc/grub.d/30_os-prober ###
### END /etc/grub.d/30_os-prober ###

### BEGIN /etc/grub.d/40_custom ###
# This file is an example on how to add custom entries
### END /etc/grub.d/40_custom ###

As you can see, I have added two lines to be able to check for serial console
use ... the "terminal" (just before the read command) say : available:
console, current: console. Not a word about the previous serial command nor
terminal...

Then, I'm asking for the command line and put the following lines :
lsmod -> serial is loaded
terminal ouput only console
terminal serial doesn't work
doing a
serial -s 57600
then a terminal serial
is working ...

any idea ?

Regards,

Caeies.
