I think I remember that problem.  Right now, though, grub's on .97 or
more and a lot of active developers are putting their time towards
grub2, i think.  So this problem is likely to be solved.  Upgrade!
it's fairly painless.

i don't notice the problem here.  Although, it's been a long time since
i restarted my computers ; ) (just kidding,  actually my computers
crashed pretty hard yesterday).

but i do think it's solved.  I still responded just for fun.

Indeed.  My favorite part of grub is having some element of control
over what happens, even when your configuration is wrong.  You can
change the info before booting and don't have to touch the mbr to
update the config.
