Yes. You can use the boot floppy although it is always better to have 
the boot loader on the MBR. You know the boot floppy is very slow.

The filesystem for the floppy is independent of the OS you want to boot.
From an ext2 floppy you can boot FAT32 systems and viceversa.

Boot a CDROM thanks to memdisk and smartbootmanager.

You can search for "all in 1 floppy" on google or just wait till I 
upload (today, I think) the mother's preview of Super Grub Disk floppy 
which has this option.
