You are right.

My plan is always "give me a patch, and I will apply it". This kind of 
work should be done by someone who requires it. I would be glad to add 
support for UFS2 into GRUB, but I myself don't work on it, since I 
don't need it.

As far as I see, there is no activity at the moment. So I wish you would 
like to implement it yourself.
