Reporter: address@hidden
Summary: configure --help not helpful
Version: 0.93
Type: documentation bug
Message:
there is no description of which path specifiers (datadir, sysconfdir, etc)
control where various grub components get installed. This is very frustrating.
In my case, I have
a "/boot" partition due to my crap BIOS. Thus, I wanted
to get the grub boot components installed under /boot/grub.
Thus I specified --datadir=/boot/grub and -sysconfdir=/boot/grub. the
installation ended up installing
things under /boot/grub/grub/i386-pc/. There is no mention
of this in the docs, nor in the configure --help info.
Short of struggling through the Makefile(s), my only option
is trial and error. Why is grub adding "grub/i386-pc/" to
the path(s) I specified???
