I was having a similar problem... My machine would boot and say:
GRUB GRUB GRUB GRUB GRUB etc...
Then i tried to replace the disk with another known good linux boot
disk. The new disk caused the computer to say only:
GRUB
and nothing else.
I spent a lot of time digging up info on this issue, the best I could
find is that it *MAY* have something to do with LBA image or disk
geometry or something... It's way over my head. Needless to say I was
unable to fix this issue and I gave up.
Hope you have better luck, and if so, drop me a hint :)
