Hi List,
im new here, but I've got a question regarding grubs serial
support. I want to see the grub menu either on the vga screen
or in a serial terminal connected to ttyS0. I downloaded the
grub sources from cvs and compiled it successfully.
Then I tried to switch between the VGA and the serial console from
the grub shell:
grub > serial --device=/dev/ttyS0
grub > terminal serial
Now I see the grub prompt on my serial terminal. I switched
back to the console and tried to specify the following lines
in /boot/grub/menu.lst.
serial --unit=0 --speed=9600 --word=8 --parity=no --stop=1
terminal --timeout=3 --dumb console serial
I understood that the first key activates either the serial console or
vga if i press it before the 3 sec timeout expires. Then the vga should
be activated. But after the message ... loading stage2 grub freezes and
i have to press the reset key to get the computer rebooted.
What did I wrong ? Any ideas ??? Any help would greatly appreciated.
