Possibly feasible -- but would require updating an ASCII file (somehat
harder than banging a binary value into stage2), and can GRUB
filehandling code deal with file writes?
My method was an easy modification to existing GRUB code. I don;t
claim it's the most elegant solution, but it did take less than an
hour to implement (and I haven't hacked GRUB before).
