Hi Grubies, hi Okuji,

That's right!

We have an `emacs' thingi, which is used to control our target system
consoles over the serial line. Emacs' comint mode sends input to the
target only if <RET> is pressed, so editing is done offline. Here
GRUB's single key commands and line editing features are
counterproductive.

I'm thinking, however, about a way to circumvent this by e.g. making
'b' the key to boot on dumb terminals (instead of RET), and ignore RET
in this case (the idea is to have DUMB terminals look like others
whenever possible).

I like Christoph's idea about NUMBER keys selecting the highlighted
entry very much. About the other stuff (which make DUMB terminal look
different to others) we are still in discussion. When we come up
with something which satisfies us (hopefully soon), we will post a
suggestion, and if accepted I'll do the checkin.

Inputs are very welcome in the meantime.

BTW: By when do you plan to release 0.91?

PS: When my daughter was younger, I had time to hack on GRUB when I
was `babysitter'ing her, now she's `babysitter'ing me and I don't have
time to hack. Maybe I should put HER on the GRUB mailing list ;-)
