Hi,
Don't know why this hasn't been fixed.
$ grub-install /dev/<some_device>
grub-install: -e: command not found
grub-install: -e: command not found
/dev/<some_device> does not have any corresponding BIOS drive.
A patch is attached for GRUB 0.5.96.1.
