Grub problem, cannot remove ir |

Hello,
I have a problem with Grub: getting rid of it ..
I had Windows 2000 and Mandrkae installed on two
paritions,
I deleted Mandrake, and now it starts up in Grub. I
need to remove Grub from the boot record; I've tried
fdisk -mbr but I get the following erroe message:
"ERROR: CanĀ“t save original MBR. Operation
terminated."
FDISK displays my paritions like this:
No Drive Start End MB Status Type
1 -- 0 5110.15 5710.15 A
NTFS-HPFS
2 -- 728 729 15.6
Free Space
My hope is to get Windows bootable again with no data
loss. Advice welcome!
BR
Janus
