Well, I think it's useful.  I'm using it right now to load a kernel
(the one that booted the machine) into memory for use with bootimg,
and system for booting a linux kernel from linux.

The output from LILO looks like:
BOOT_IMAGE=josh ro root=301 BOOT_FILE=/boot/vmlinuz-2.4.0-test9

some versions only give the BOOT_IMAGE= field.
