While exploring bug #64141, I discovered to my unhappiness that my font
diagnostic revision work broke the `bd` request after all.
And along the way, I discovered what appears to be (yet another) erratum in
CSTR #54, and an inaccuracy in our Texinfo manual arising from what must have
been interpretive extrapolation from the AT&T documentation rather than
experimental observation of formatter behavior.
