Yes, I had noticed that myself.  The wordcount ran fine on some mom examples.

I don't know how possible this would be (and I suspect maybe more a groff
issue than relating to an individual macro?); but would an error exit code be
possible as opposed to a terminal freeze in cases where it doesn't render? 
This would certainly be desirable from my perspective.  I'm guessing this
would be difficult though or it would already have been done?
