Output:

See attached screenshot of grops output.  Where there should be "i"s with
haceks and grave accents there is only nothing.

This is because Bernd converted "i" to the dotless i special character \[.i]
and then failed to have the latter in his lookup table for replacement with
tones 2 and 4.  Only those 2 tones are affected because he uses overstrike
escapes for the others.  It's not clear to me why he did that.

The observant will notice other problems with the rendered text.
