The question is not so much whether they would work but why anybody would want
to do that. Groff has its own man, ms, and mm implementations and they are
compatible. The historical implementations have severe limitations and
provide no benefit i can see.

Sure, if you want to. That can do no harm, even if it turns out to not be
complete.
