except that i dropped the patch to groff_hdtbl.7.man:
The CRI/XAA stuff is already totally over-engineered, and i'm not going to
make it even worse. Besides, using font alternating macros with only a single
argument is not wrong, so there is no need for additional code just to avoid
that.
