Nroff no longer accepts multiple files

I'm looking at the nroff script in SLES 10 (2.6.16.46-0.12-smp) and I'm not sure of the exact relationship between SLES 10 and the Linux project, but the issue is fairly simple.  The newer script has clearly taken away the concatenation of input files and processes only the first file it finds on the command line.  Whether this is how is should work is ambiguous looking at an old Unix man page on nroff, but it is definitely different than it used to.
