BTW, I got a report that groff 1.17.2 builds successfully with Sun
Forte 6.2 on a Sun Ultra10, using SunOS 2.8 -- I know of another
compiler (on OS/390, now called z/OS) where global destructors aren't
implemented correctly. Maybe Forte 6.1 has a similar problem? Note
that the OS/390 compiler was able to successfully build groff (and the
binaries did work), only the particulal test in the configure script
failed. Please check so that I can add something to the PROBLEMS
file.

gcc 2.95.3 on Linux compiles groff just fine, so I think you have a
configuration problem.
