Many of my Gnu utilities can handle NTFS alternate data streams with no fuss.
GREP.EXE cannot.
v:\> g:\gnu\wc -l timecheck.btm:servers.txt
19 timecheck.btm:servers.txt
v:\> g:\gnu\head -n 2 timecheck.btm:servers.txt
time-a-g.nist.gov 129.6.15.28 NIST, Gaithersburg, Maryland
time-b-g.nist.gov 129.6.15.29 NIST, Gaithersburg, Maryland
v:\> g:\gnu\tail -n 2 timecheck.btm:servers.txt
#tick.usnogps.navy.mil 204.34.198.40 Colorado Springs, Colorado
#tock.usnogps.navy.mil 204.34.198.41 Colorado Springs, Colorado
v:\> g:\gnu\grep Colorado timecheck.btm:servers.txt

v:\> g:\gnu\grep --version
