                  Status:                    None => Invalid                
             Open/Closed:                    Open => Closed                 
                 Summary: grep fails with searches that have \" more than
once => grep fails with searches that have " more than once

Follow-up Comment #1:

grep processes backslashes as special escape characters. The following
works:

> grep '\"\"' somefile
""
