grep doesn't use gnulib.
It should (one way or another), but admittedly that is a different story
and presumably not one for this release.
(I can't see that the config.* files are ever modified either.)
grep, like all GNU packages, should use the latest released config.*
files whenever a new distribution is made. Ditto texinfo.tex.
Also, I note that the license texts in grep.texi are out of date. It
would be better to use fdl.texi. Tony, I'll try to send you a patch for
that.
Are there any other grep-specific problems that could arise?
Nothing truly grep-specific comes to mind.
Can you point me to the discussion on the autoconf list, please?
Sorry, I can't exhume it now. This was years ago, and no particularly
useful conclusion was reached anyway (that I recall).
