[bug #11017] --exclude should also relate to directories

Follow-up Comment #5, bug #11017 (project grep):

Man, I just realized that I *still* have my own build of grep on my box,
since december 2005.  Can we move on and apply that patch once and for all?

This *would* be useful for a lot of people, no matter if you can reproduce
the same with find/xargs, etc.  Pragmatism should rule: the common case
should have an option for it.
