The source package itself is stored in a
file whose name is case sensitive (e.g.,
grep-2.5.1a.tar.gz), and so are the source and
binary packages from the various distributors
(rpm, deb, etc.), so that's still unclear.

Mind you, the same problem props up all over
the place.  There is a discussion somewhere
about "Perl" being the language and "perl" its
current/only interpreter, but the conclusion is
indeed the same:  it doesn't matter that much.
