Sure, I'll rename it.

I'll simply import the savedir module from gnulib and hope it'll work.
If you can see any problem with the code in gnulib/lib/savedir.[ch],
then you could perhaps report it to bug-gnulib.

Thank you very much for both of thesei, as well as the work which will
