for completeness, i just realized that i neglected to mention the one other way Freedoms #2 and #4 could be realized for this "disposable software" - that would be the self-hosting of all remote back-ends that the script is coupled to - and i think it is quite clear that these back-ends are predominantly proprietary so a total re-implementation of all remote back-ends would also be required before you could even begin testing your modifications to the client-side script
