Thanks for the advice. Basically I think to have a Firefox clone without a method of moving passwords etc across is extremely bad and yes for me with 400+ passwords to manage makes moving to Icecat completely impossible. All the other FF clones I've tried I have been able to accomplish this with only minimal effort. I have no wish to use any cloud based facilities which might work as I simply do not believe them secure enough.

I want to try to test Icecat but so far I have been unable to get
my passwords from Firefox to Icecat. Everything I have tried has
failed. I tried copying the FF profile but that does not do it, I
tried the password exporter add-on but that gives errors. Unless I
am able to do this then Icecat will be useless. Does anyone kn ow
of a working method please.

I agree that a convenient way to export passwords would be helpful,
but if without it "Icecat will be useless", does that mean you don't
have your passwords stored anywhere else? You might want to consider
also storing them in a KeePass database.

Anyway, this is a bit inconvenient, but if you go into the settings of
Firefox, under the Security tab, click on "Saved Passwords...". In the
new dialog that opens, click "Show Passwords". If you don't find a
more convenient solution, this can allow you to copy passwords to
another source manually.
