Yeah! You are right: d2d1.dll is the fault module. WER points the same in here:

If you check Event Viewer, you should be able to locate the crash data.
Under Windows Logs->Applications, use find to locate icecat.
Under General, look for the fault module name.
It can provide a clue to the cause.


I think I've managed to duplicate this startup crash on non-VM Windows 7_x64. Default settings Icecat 31.8.0-2 has hardware acceleration disabled, but it
still crashes, and WER flags d2d1.dll as the fault module.

I'm running through about:config to attempt to determine what settings might
prevent the crash.
