From the DDG FAQ[0]:

«Is DDG open source? 
Some of it[1].  It's also largely built with FOSS[2].  We also give 10% of our 
income to FOSS.»


Also, there's a thread in the community forum about what to "opensource" [3]

I know most of us (all of us) here promote free software and not opensource, 
but opensource is better than proprietary in my book.
