Other question: someone wrote Mozilla people asking for adding "License" field
for addons?? I wrote them sometime ago but they didn't reply me...

I have been thinking about something like that too for quite a while (inspired by MODULE_LICENSE in Linux). But judging by the lack of discussion I can find about it on the Web ([1] brings it up) and the lack of relevant bug reports ([2] is the closest I could find) it seems that the Mozilla community is not very interested. So it will probably take a lot of time and effort to "sell" it to them.

Assuming that such a license tag or freedom tag would be used with integrity, this would benefit the GNUzilla and gNewSense projects very much. If addons.mozilla.org would be set up in such a way that free extensions could be requested separately then IceCat wouldn't have to exclude access to it, but just add the right parameter. That would make the browser more user friendly and removes the need for the GNUzilla community to check all the addons (or at least make it less urgent) because that burden would be placed on the addon developers. It would also make the freedom issue more visible to Firefox users, who might then want to know more about it and possibly use and even contribute to free software.

Maybe the GNUzilla website could call on users to vote for [2] and/or for a bug report asking for a separate 'free addons' category.
