(yes, I know I could set it up in a virtual machine, but it's just
too painful to debug).
If it helps, I can share a fully-configured FreeBSD image (for use with KVM on
x86_64), on which I've tested the issue.
About 400MB compressed, 2.5GB uncompressed, configured to use just 1 cpu, 384MB
of ram, and user-mode networking - so running it is quite easy.
