Hello,
It applies to gcc >= 4.9.0 which was released in April 2014. So ATM it
will probably only apply to development versions of linux
distributions.
At a quick google search I find Suse 13.1, RHEL 7, and Fedora 20 are
using gcc-4.8. Ubuntu development (utopic), too. Debian unstable
and Fedora rawhide are at 4.9.
