Thanks for the suggestion, but I don't think it fits well:
- The --extract-* modes are all intended as low-level facilities, just
reading the contents of the module description.
- The --extract-* modes all take a single module as arguments. However,
--avoid works during the recursive closure and therefore assumes
multiple module names as input.
What exactly are you trying to do that --import and --update cannot do?
