And neither window handles 'bool' correctly.

I dunno, perhaps I'm old-fashioned; I found that code just as easy (or
ugly) to read in monochrome.

No doubt it's a style thing.  I also don't like newspapers that use
colored text in their headlines and news articles.  I want them to
just give me the news, and not to bother me with irrelevant
information.  (Of course it helps if the ads use color and the news
uses black-and-white, but that situation doesn't commonly arise in
source code.  Yet.  :-)
