I absolutely suggest you use gcc4 for building. I simply makes faster and 
better code. However I have seen some problems with gcc4 when combining -O3 and 
-msse2 options. The gcc team is aware of these problems, and they are hopefully 
working on them.

If you hit this problem with your builds, I guess you can work your way around
